A multi-agency security team in Loiyangalani Sub-County on Tuesday, November 3, recovered at least 3,000 stolen sheep and goats.
National Police Service (NPS) says the animals were stolen when a group of herders, who were migrating their livestock from Mouwokiteng towards Lardapach, were ambushed by suspected armed bandits.
“During the attack, the bandits seized the livestock and began driving them towards Arapal,” NPS says. “A swift multi-agency response team was immediately mobilised. Following a strategic operation, the security team successfully intercepted the attackers and recovered all 3,000 stolen goats and sheep.”
The recovery follows what the police describes as “another high-stakes operation on 2 November 2026” that was a success thanks to the multi-agency team under Operation Maliza Uhalifu.
NPS officers stationed in the Shaba area received timely intelligence indicating that bandits had struck Archers in Samburu East and were driving a herd of stolen goats and sheep towards the Manyatta Zebra area of Isiolo County.

“A multi-agency team was mobilised and launched a prompt pursuit, tracking the suspects to the Oltungai Plateau. An intense exchange of fire ensued, forcing the bandits to flee. The security team successfully recovered 75 sheep and goats during the encounter. All livestock recovered from this operation has since been positively identified and returned to its rightful owners,” NPS explains.
