In an effort to embed youth perspectives into its regional operations, Britam Holdings Plc has announced the official establishment of its inaugural Britam Youth Advisory Council.

Comprising young professionals aged 24 to 37, the newly appointed council represents Britam’s footprint across East and Southern Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Mozambique, and Malawi. According to the company’s Board of Directors, the appointments took effect on July 20, 2026.

The Kenyan appointees, including finance leader Francis Ngumbi, entrepreneur Matu Kihato, sports executive Marcel Awori, and tourism professional Ruth Tengecha, bring key expertise in corporate strategy, innovation, and community engagement.

The inaugural council members

The board has appointed eight key professionals to lead the advisory council:
  • Loraine Achar-Ogada — An investment and corporate finance expert with over ten years of experience across private equity, venture capital, and transactional banking. She holds an MSc in Finance and Investment from the University of Edinburgh and a BSc in Actuarial Science and Mathematics from the University of Manchester.
  • Brian Abel — A digital transformation and growth strategist focused on digital partnerships and regional market expansion. He holds a Master’s degree in Digital Transformation from the University of Hull.
  • Matu Kihato — An entrepreneur and corporate executive who serves as the founder of Providence Africa Group. He holds a BSc in International Business Administration from United States International University (USIU).
  • Nakintu Pamela Mwanje — A media and brand communications expert currently serving as Brand Manager at Next Media in Kampala, Uganda. She holds a Bachelor of International Business Administration from USIU.
  • Ruth Tengecha — A hospitality specialist and digital marketing advocate who co-founded The Richanna Collective Limited, an organization focused on mental health awareness. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Management from Strathmore University.
  • Marcel Awori — The Chief of Staff at Nairobi City Thunder, specializing in sports administration, mobility, and youth empowerment initiatives. He holds a BSc in Behavior and Health with a minor in Innovation & Entrepreneurship from Boston University.
  • Francis Ngumbi — A finance and strategy leader with extensive cross-sector experience in retail, FMCG, automotive, and tech. A 2024 Top 40 Under 40 honoree, he holds a Master of Commerce from Strathmore Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce from Kenyatta University.
  • Mantui Turgo — A sustainability and stakeholder engagement professional with expertise in sustainable finance and digital inclusion. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Strathmore University.
