Crown Paints Kenya Plc, a listed paints manufacturer, has opened a new Xperience Centre in Mlolongo, Machakos County, to tap into the rapidly expanding residential and commercial construction market unfolding along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway corridor.

The new Crown Paints facility is designed to go beyond traditional paint retailing to providing developers, contractors, interior designers and homeowners access to live colour-matching technology, textured finish displays and technical advice.

Crown Paints has set up on the busy Mulolongo and surrounding areas experience increased construction activity, driven by the rapid expansion in Machakos and Nairobi, infrastructure development and growing demand for residential and commercial property here.

Available data from Kenya National Bureau of Statistics(KNBS) indicates that Kenya’s monthly cement consumption crossed a million tonnes for the first time in July 2026. Consumption was up 13.5% to 1.008 million tonnes in July this year from July 2025. Production rose to 1.029million tonnes from 906,979 in July 2025 while consumption grew in each of the seven months of this year compared to corresponding months in 2025.

The July 2026 surge resulted from a sharpening construction activity propelled by strong demand from State-backed affordable housing projects. Production of cement has also gone up as manufacturers respond to the stronger market demand.

Crown Paints Chief Executive Officer Mustafa Turra said the Mulolongo outlet forms part of Crown Paints’ broader plan to strengthen its footprint in key growth areas while bringing specialised products and services as well as technical expertise closer to active construction zones.

This new showroom will also support growing demand for durable and environmentally conscious building solutions, including low-VOC paint formulations and specialized coatings. Customers will receive guidance on product selection, colour application, surface durability and other technical considerations that can influence the long-term performance of buildings.

The company said the new outlet will strengthen its distribution network in the region by placing greater product availability and technical support closer to construction sites. This is expected to provide contractors with ability to improve project turnaround times, manage material requirements and reduce waste.

Joseph Waigwa, Director of Paints& Hardware Mulolongo, said the facility is intended to serve as an advisory centre where contractors, developers and homeowners can access technical expertise alongside products, particularly as construction projects become more specialised.

The Mulolongo Investment forms part of Crown Paints’ wider strategy, which combines physical retail expansion, contractor training and digital customer engagement. The firm plans to extend technical support and experiential retail facilities to other high-growth markets as it seeks to remain closer to emerging construction hot spots across Kenya.
