Regional budget airline Jambojet is set to resume daily passenger and cargo flights between Nairobi and Entebbe starting October 1, 2026. The move marks the airline’s return to Uganda following a six-year hiatus prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic and a subsequent strategic shift toward domestic operations within Kenya.

The return to the Ugandan market represents a major milestone in Jambojet’s regional strategy, designed to broaden access to affordable air travel across East Africa. The daily service is expected to strengthen economic ties between Kenya and Uganda while supporting cross-border trade, corporate travel, and tourism.

Speaking on the re-launch, Jambojet Chief Executive Officer Karanja Ndegwa emphasized the strategic importance of the corridor.

“Our return to Uganda is a strategic step forward in our mission to strengthen regional connectivity,” said Ndegwa. “We see significant opportunities to support business, tourism, and trade between Kenya and Uganda while providing travelers with the affordable, reliable, and convenient flying experience that Jambojet is known for.”

In addition to passenger transport, Jambojet is introducing cargo and parcel capacity along the corridor to streamline the movement of goods between two of East Africa’s largest economies.

Ahead of the October launch, Jambojet partnered with The Uganda Association of Travel Agents (TUGATA) to host a stakeholder engagement breakfast at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. The event brought together representatives from government, trade, tourism, and media to discuss collaboration opportunities.

Ms. Pearl Hoareau Kakooza, Vice Chairperson of TUGATA and Chairperson of the Uganda Tourism Board, welcomed the return: “The resumption of this service comes at an opportune time as we continue to strengthen travel, trade, and tourism opportunities across the region. We look forward to working closely with Jambojet to promote the route.”

The route expansion follows a strong period of growth for the carrier. In April 2026, Jambojet expanded its active fleet to 11 De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 aircraft and celebrated its 10 millionth passenger milestone. The airline also recorded an On-Time Performance (OTP) rate of 86.45% in July 2026, solidifying its rank among the most punctual operational carriers in the region.

Operating from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Jambojet holds IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration and has been named Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline four consecutive times from 2022 through 2025.
