The Draft Budget Policy Statement 2027 projects total spending at 23.6 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP), up from Sh5.323 trillion, or 23.1 per cent of GDP.
Kenya’s proposed budget for the 2027/28 financial year has risen to Sh5.416 trillion, with recurrent expenditure crossing the Sh4 trillion mark for the first time.
This as the government scales back on planned development spending.
