Chesumei Member of Parliament Paul Biego has rooted for President William Ruto’s re-election, saying the head of state has put the country on the right development trajectory and should be supported to complete his vision.
Biego cited various infrastructural projects spread across the country, including the affordable housing programme, roads, markets and sports stadia, which he said have left a mark in every corner of the republic.
Speaking at Kamonjil area in Chesumei Constituency, Biego said for the development journey to be complete, President Ruto must secure a second term to take the country to the next level.
“The President’s record speaks for itself. In Nandi here, we have over 1,000 affordable housing units in Chesumei and another 200 in Emgwen, among other projects. The President has also employed 100,000 teachers among other initiatives across the country,” he said.
“We have had governments before, but where was Nandi in their programmes? It is only President Ruto who has brought us development. That is why Nandi is supporting his re-election,” he added.
The legislator took issue with Linda Mwananchi leader Edwin Sifuna over his constant criticism of President Ruto, saying the sentiments were totally unfounded.
“The President has done a lot to fulfil the promises he made to the electorate. Therefore, Sifuna must stop this unnecessary criticism,” he said.
At the same function, Nandi UDA politician Francisca Mibei urged Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch the opposition and join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Mibei said Kalonzo is a national leader who deserved better and not the heckling and belittlement he suffered during the launch of the Linda Mwananchi party headquarters in Nairobi.
“We are welcoming you to UDA. We see you are being humiliated in the opposition, but we love you. UDA is home for everyone,” she said.
She dismissed Linda Mwananchi as a party lacking vision, structures and organisation, and therefore lacking the capacity to lead the country.
“We need leadership that is well organised and ready to work for Kenyans, and Linda Mwananchi is not,” she said.
