Nyamira County Commissioner (CC) Benson Leparmorijo has assured area residents of maximum security during this year’s national examination exercise.

While presiding over commemoration of Mashujaa day at Kiomakondo primary school grounds in Manga sub-County on Tuesday, Leparmorijo affirmed that during the examination period there will be maximum security in all the examination centres to ensure the exercise runs smoothly.

“Our learning institutions which are examination centres will be given security during the entire examination period, so that examination centre managers, supervisors and invigilators will have ample time to conduct this critical national exercise for our learners,” said the county security team chair.

The CC warned residents that there are fraudsters who claim to have examination materials, ahead of exams and were willing to sell to candidates or their parents, cautioning that buying such material amounts to a criminal act and there was the risk of prosecution.

Leparmorijo therefore cautioned everyone against buying of such material adding, “The examination materials are highly guarded against any ‘leakages’ and I advise that such people must be reported because they are just opportunists who want to con unsuspecting candidates. Just prepare adequately and you will excel without having to put yourself in trouble for sourcing or hunting for ‘exam leakage’.

He urged parents to give their children study time during the exams and provide them with required materials to avoid unnecessary anxiety during the period.

The CC also urged residents to be on high alert over the El-Nino rains which have already started in Gusii region.

Additionally, Leparmorijo asked residents to make sure they understand signs of the deadly Ebola disease and take action when the symptoms are noticed, so that health officers can take swift action to contain any suspicious cases.

He celebrated heroes and heroines in Nyamira County and beyond observing that everyone is a hero or heroine in their spaces.
