Uasin Gishu County is deepening its partnership with Poland, combining high-level investment talks with a practical boost to healthcare services, as a Polish delegation led by Anna Bańkowska, Deputy Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, engages local leaders on economic cooperation and hands over essential medical equipment.
The multi-day engagements brought together the County Government, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, and the Polish Embassy.
More than 20 Polish investors joined Bańkowska to explore opportunities in agriculture, ICT, railway transport, cybersecurity, agribusiness, milk cooling infrastructure, and agricultural product development.
“We see strong potential for partnership between Polish investors and local businesses in Uasin Gishu,” said Hon. Anna Bańkowska.
“Our focus is on technology transfer, value addition, and sustainable growth that benefits both sides – especially farmers and entrepreneurs here,” Bańkowska elaborated.
County Attorney Sylvester Metto, alongside the county’s linkages and liaison team, welcomed the interest.
“These discussions open doors for trade, knowledge exchange, and joint programmes that can transform our agricultural sector, drive industrialisation, and create jobs,” Metto said.
“We are ready to work closely with our Polish partners to turn these opportunities into concrete projects,” he added.
In a parallel move that underscored the growing friendship, the Polish government donated blood pressure machines and thermometers to strengthen patient monitoring across county health facilities.
The equipment was received on Wednesday at Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital by CECM for Health Services Janet Kurgat, County Attorney Sylvester Metto, Chief Officer for Clinical Services Ambrose Tarus, and Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health Dr Billy Lubanga.
“This donation comes at the right time,” said CECM Janet Kurgat. “Blood pressure and temperature monitoring are basic but critical tools, especially in maternal care. With this support, our clinicians can detect complications early and respond faster, improving outcomes for mothers and babies.”
The equipment will be particularly valuable at Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital, where continuous monitoring of expectant and new mothers helps identify warning signs and guide timely intervention.
“Health remains the second pillar of Governor Chelilim’s Nguzo Kumi agenda,” Metto noted.
“Partnerships like this complement our own investments in infrastructure and service delivery. We thank the Government of Poland and the West Pomeranian region for standing with us,” he added.
Officials from both sides noted that the twin tracks of economic collaboration and healthcare support point to a broader, long-term relationship.
The talks also touched on education and future joint programmes that could benefit residents through skills transfer, innovation, and stronger local enterprises.
The visit positions Uasin Gishu to expand its international investment networks while delivering immediate improvements in patient care – a dual win that county leaders say reflects the practical value of strategic global partnerships.
