Zainab said she was inside her ground-floor shop when the building began to come down. She initially thought the loud noises were caused by a fight nearby before realising the structure was collapsing.

Two survivors of the 18-storey building that collapsed in Eastleigh on Friday, October 23, have recounted how they endured 30 hours beneath concrete and debris before being rescued alive, as families continued searching for missing relatives.

Zainab Mohammed and Victor Onyango survived the collapse after becoming trapped in different sections of the building.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, the two described the fear, uncertainty and determination that kept them going until rescuers reached them.
