A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death during a fight involving a group of friends in Nairobi’s Umoja Innercore area early Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as Telvin Otieno, was fatally injured at about 3am on October 4, 2026, near Kifaru Roundabout as the group headed towards Sango area.
According to police, the incident began after a disagreement broke out among the group of eight friends.
One of the group members, reported that he was punched in the lower jaw by an assailant, triggering a physical confrontation.
During the ensuing brawl, Otieno was stabbed in the stomach and rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital while bleeding heavily. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers who visited the scene later examined the body at the hospital and observed two visible stab wounds on the stomach.
Two other men who were part of the group were also injured during the fight and admitted to hospital in stable condition.
Police processed the relevant scenes and preserved Otieno’s body at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
Three suspects were arrested and placed in custody for interrogation and further action.
The weapon believed to have been used in the stabbing had not been recovered by the time of the police report.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing.
Meanwhile a 20-year-old man was hacked to death in Nyakoko area of North East Kano Sub-County, Kisumu County, in an incident police suspect involved members of the outlawed Katalang group.
The deceased, identified as Offcan Onyango Omondi, was reportedly attacked at about 4am on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Omondi’s mother received a call from a man informing her that her son had been cut by suspected members of the group.
Omondi was reportedly rushed to Masogo Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
However, officers from Masogo Police Station and DCI Muhoroni, who proceeded to the facility accompanied by family members, found him dead about five metres from the hospital gate.
Police said the deceased had several deep cut wounds on the head, near the right eye, the left ear and fingers of his right hand.
Investigators also reported that Omondi was suspected to be a member of the outlawed Katalang group after finding a ribbon associated with the group tied around his waist.
The scene was photographed and processed by investigators.
Omondi’s body was removed and taken to Othoo Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
