According to Nyamu, the supporter, whom she described as being about 29 years old, had been a staunch campaigner for her before she helped him obtain the forged document.
The National Police Service (NPS) is examining a video in which a senior nominated politician describes helping a supporter use a forged academic certificate to join the police, following remarks by nominated Senator Karen Nyamu about the incident.
While the NPS did not name Nyamu in its statement, the nominated senator had spoken about the incident during a radio interview on Friday, describing how she helped a political supporter who lacked a Form Four certificate to join the police. Nyamu did not specify exactly when the incident occurred but described it as a recent case, without providing a specific date or timeframe.
