Rose Mbithe, her children, two police officers charged with lawyer Kyalo Mbobu’s murder
The case marks the second murder prosecution facing Rose Mbithe Mulwa and her two children, who are also charged in connection with the killing of Dr Victoria Mutiso.
Politician Rose Mbithe Mulwa and her two children have been charged with the murder of prominent city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu, in a second murder case involving the family.
Mulwa, her children Chris and Angela, and police constables Julius Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Kennedy Kipkemoi Borboroi were arraigned before the Kibera High Court on Tuesday, where they denied the murder charge.
The five appeared before Justice Diana Kavedza over the killing of Mbobu, an advocate of the High Court, university lecturer and author.
According to the charge sheet, the accused persons, jointly with others who have not been presented before the court, murdered Mbobu on September 9, 2025, at approximately 7:30 pm along Magadi Road in Karen, within Lang’ata Sub-County, Nairobi.
The case marks the second murder prosecution facing Mulwa and her two children, who are also charged in connection with the killing of Dr Victoria Mutiso.

Following their plea, the prosecution informed the court of its intention to charge Police Inspector Kenneth Sang over the same murder.
Sang was arrested in Eldoret and presented before the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, where investigators obtained orders allowing them to detain him for 14 days as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) completes its investigations.
The prosecution is seeking to oppose the release of the five accused persons on bond.
“The prosecution was directed to file an affidavit opposing the accused persons’ release on bond,” the court said.
Justice Kavedza scheduled the hearing of the bond application for November 24, 2026, when the court is expected to consider whether the accused persons should be released pending trial.
The murder charge against the five now places them at the centre of investigations into the killing of Mbobu, whose professional career spanned legal practice, university teaching and authorship.
The case will proceed as the prosecution prepares its response to the bond application and investigations into the alleged involvement of additional suspects continue.
