Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has issued title deeds to six public facilities in Emali town, Nzaui Sub-County, in a move aimed at securing public land from possible encroachment.

The title deeds were issued on Tuesday to Emali Level 3 Hospital, Kwa Kamba Hill Land, the Christian/Muslim Cemetery, Emali Green Space, Emali Green Groceries Market, and the Emali dumpsite.

Speaking during a public baraza at Emali Bus Park, Mutula said securing ownership documents for public facilities would help protect public land from land grabbers and other forms of encroachment.

“The issuance of these title deeds is an effort by the government to ensure the public facilities are secure and avoid any encroachment on the land,” Mutula said.

The Governor was speaking during a development tour of Emali/Mulala Ward, where he highlighted various projects being implemented by the county government.

Mutula said the county had implemented a 25,000-cubic-meter water project to address the growing water needs of Emali, which is rapidly developing into an urban centre.

He also announced that traders and residents would soon access free Wi-Fi at the market through the Emali ICT Hub.

The governor further said the county government would install cabro paving in parts of Emali town to improve the trading environment and make the area more conducive for businesses and customers.

During the visit, Mutula also issued driving licences to 16 tractor drivers who had successfully completed training sponsored by the county government.

The training was part of efforts to equip residents with practical skills and improve their opportunities for employment and income generation.

The county government also organised a day-long medical camp at Emali Bus Park, where residents received treatment and medical services for various ailments.
