Samsung has kept thing beautifully uncomplicated.

The S26 FE is sleek, flat and polished, with the kind of design that makes you feel like you should probably start influencing with an important story to tell when you’re holding it. At 193 grams and 7.4mm thick, it is substantial without feeling like you’re carrying a small tablet around. It’s when you see the 6.7-inch display that is where the phone really starts showing off.

Samsung’s Kenyan launch of the Galaxy S26 FE at Zen Garden had a little more personality to it.

Set against the lush, leafy backdrop of Zen Garden on Lower Kabete Road, the afternoon brought together the usual beautiful collision of technology, media, Samsung creators and people who simply wanted to know whether this new phone was actually worth the fuss.

Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE in August, positioning it as the latest addition to the S26 family and the first model in the series to launch with One UI 9. In Kenya, the phone arrived with a starting price of around KSh103,000, alongside a 24-month warranty and Samsung Care+ protection. The take home was clear, “This is a lifestyle phone.”

What made the Zen Garden afternoon interesting was that it wasn’t really just about specifications. Fantastic catering, jam packed activities and real time use of the phone made it even more special.

The S26 FE puts considerable emphasis on the camera and AI experience, including features such as My FanCam, which can automatically track a selected person in video, as well as enhanced stabilisation and editing tools.

For someone who creates content, travels, loves festivals or simply wants high quality photographs and videos, that’s a useful combination.

The 3x optical zoom is particularly handy too. It gives you more flexibility when you’re photographing people, food, architecture and so much more.

After speaking to Levis Ryan the Digital Marketing Manager, Samsung Electronics East Africa, it was clear that “the S26 FE itself has a very Samsung sort of elegance.”

Slim, polished and available in Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio, it manages to look expensive without screaming for attention. The phone screams give me the most out of a flagship experience without making me pay flagship money.

There was something quite amusing about putting a new smartphone in a room full of people whose livelihoods depend on smartphones. Giving creators a new camera, a new toy to play with and a glimpse into what was possible was truly fascinating to watch.

Speaking of watches, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 was also a treat. Guests clearly had fun tracking their heart rate as the days activities went on.

The S26 FE’s camera system and AI-powered creative tools were clearly designed with this kind of everyday content creation in mind. With enhanced camera quality and editing capabilities, all at unaffordable rate. The phone says less but does more.

In my opinion this phone is for the person who wants a really good phone rather than necessarily wanting the most expensive phone Samsung makes. It is a phone for the curious, forward thinking content creator who needs a capable camera and for certainly for someone who deserves a touch of luxury without breaking the bank.
