The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for healthcare facilities to migrate to the Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) by one month, giving providers until November 30, 2026, to complete the transition.
The extension follows requests from healthcare providers and comes amid delays in migration, particularly among faith-based and private facilities.
In a statement released on Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale urged facilities that are yet to migrate to complete the process within the extended period to avoid service disruptions and ensure continuity of healthcare services for Social Health Authority (SHA) beneficiaries.
“Access to the SHA Provider Portal will be deactivated effective 30 November 2026. Facilities that fail to migrate by this final deadline risk disruptions to service verification, pre-authorisation and claims submission and processing,” stated Duale.
According to the ministry, all 6,427 public Level 2 to 4 facilities have successfully migrated to the new systems, while 22 of the 28 public Level 5 facilities have completed the process, representing 79 per cent.
However, migration among faith-based facilities remains at 37 per cent, with 190 of the 518 facilities having transitioned.
The ministry also reported that 371 private healthcare facilities have migrated, although it did not provide the total number of private facilities expected to make the transition.
The migration requires facilities to move from the SHA Provider Portal to systems certified by the Digital Health Agency (DHA).
The Digital Health Agency says it is providing technical assistance to facilities, including system onboarding, integration, troubleshooting, user training and coordination with HMIS vendors.
SHA has also clarified that claims already submitted through the Provider Portal will continue to be processed in accordance with the applicable requirements.
