NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 22 – The Kenya Meteorological Service (KMS) has forecast rainfall across several parts of the country over the next seven days, with the Coast, Northeastern, Western, Central and parts of the Rift Valley expected to receive rain.
In its September 22–28, 2026 rainfall outlook, the weather agency said rainfall is expected in several counties, with additional localized areas also likely to experience showers.
Counties listed in the outlook include Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir and Marsabit.
Other areas expected to receive rainfall are Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Makueni, Narok and Baringo.
The forecast also covers several counties in Western Kenya and the Lake Victoria Basin, including Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Nakuru, Nandi, Nyamira, Siaya, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Vihiga.
KMS has also warned of significant variations in temperatures across the country during the forecast period.
Daytime maximum average temperatures of above 30°C are expected in parts of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit and Turkana.
At the same time, some high-altitude areas are expected to experience considerably cooler nights.
Night-time minimum average temperatures of below 10°C are forecast in parts of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nakuru, Narok, Taita/Taveta and Kajiado counties.
The contrasting conditions are expected to persist as the country experiences rainfall in several regions alongside warmer conditions in parts of the northern and coastal areas.
Residents, farmers and motorists in areas expected to receive rainfall have been advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions and plan accordingly, particularly in areas prone to localized flooding or poor road conditions.
