Kenya has confirmed its first case of Ebola Virus Disease, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has announced.

Duale said the patient died last night, prompting the Ministry of Health to activate measures to contain the disease and prevent further transmission.

The CS said 28 contacts have been identified and placed under monitoring including family members of the deceased and health workers who attended to the patient.

The Ministry is conducting contact tracing and surveillance as health authorities assess the risk of further spread.
