More than 1,000 households in Kisa North Ward are set to benefit from improved access to water following the launch of the Elukanji School and Community Water Project.

The project will also serve Elukanji Comprehensive School, Elukari Comprehensive School, Emaholia Senior School, and Mundobelwa Health Centre, benefiting families, pupils, and patients across the area.

Speaking during the launch on Monday, Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka said the project was a direct response to concerns raised by residents and would address a water shortage that had affected families for years.

Aseka said residents should remain at the center of development decisions, noting that projects have greater impact when they address challenges identified by communities.

“The people told us what they needed, and access to water was one of their biggest concerns. Our responsibility is to listen to them and turn those priorities into projects that improve their daily lives,” he said.

He said the project would give families easier access to the essential commodity, allowing them to spend more time on farming, business, and other productive activities.

At the schools, Aseka said improved water access would strengthen sanitation and reduce the burden on pupils who often help their families fetch water.

He added that Mundobelwa Health Centre would benefit from improved hygiene and better support for its daily operations.

The project is expected to ease the pressure on households while strengthening essential services at the three schools and the health center serving the community.
