Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to complete all development projects within the set timelines and to deliver works that meet the expected standards.

Wamatangi particularly stressed that the county is investing heavily in health facilities as a priority for his administration, adding that a healthy population was central to the county’s social and economic development agenda.

The governor was speaking when he made an inspection tour of the ongoing construction works at the Kiamumbi Hospital in Kiambu Township Ward.

Accompanied by Kiambu Municipal Manager Ruth Waweru and a team of other county officials, the governor toured the site, examining the pace and quality of the works, before holding brief consultations with the project’s technical team.

The facility is among several health projects the county government is undertaking as part of a wider plan to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and bring quality medical services closer to residents.

The county government has in recent months intensified efforts to upgrade and expand health facilities as part of its commitment to achieving universal health coverage for all residents.

“We are committed to ensuring that every resident of Kiambu County can access quality and affordable healthcare without having to travel long distances. Kiamumbi Hospital is a clear demonstration of that promise. I want to assure the people of Kiambu Township Ward and the entire county that this project will be completed and equipped to serve our people with dignity,” the governor said.

Wamatamgi noted that a county cannot grow if its people are facing healthcare challenges, saying that was the reason his administration putting resources into hospitals, dispensaries and health centres across wards in the county.

“We will not relent until every corner of Kiambu is served well with adequate healthcare facilities,” he assured.

Residents of Kiambu Township Ward welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the hospital would ease the burden of seeking specialised services in distant facilities and create local employment opportunities during and after construction.

Once complete, Kiamumbi Hospital is expected to significantly boost healthcare access in the area, decongest existing facilities and offer a range of outpatient and inpatient services to the growing population within the township and its environs.

The municipal manager assured residents that the municipality would continue to support the timely completion of the project and ensure that the surrounding infrastructure complemented the new facility.
