The Kenyan Embassy in Washington, D.C. completed a three-day consular outreach in Indianapolis, Indiana, from October 22 to 24, 2026, processing applications for passports, national identification cards and birth certificates.
Kenyans living in Indiana and the wider United States Midwest were the intended beneficiaries of the clinic, which brought routine Kenyan government services closer to a diaspora community that would otherwise deal with the embassy in Washington.
During the visit, Kenya’s Ambassador to the United States, David Kerich, met Kenyan entrepreneurs based in Indiana. Among the businesses cited by the embassy were WEKO Family Services, founded by Weldon Koech, and Poulines’ Transforming Love Home Care LLC.
WEKO Family Services was described by the embassy as the first Kenyan-owned company to sponsor the Global AMPATH Gala. Held around the same visit, the gala marked 35 years of partnership involving Indiana University, Moi University and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The embassy also acknowledged diaspora leaders and volunteers who supported the outreach. Prof. Jerono Rotich was named, alongside Dr. Fidelis Ndobera and Dr. Muchai, as part of the effort that made the Indianapolis clinic possible.
The embassy framed the exercise as part of a sustained push to bring government services closer to diaspora communities and to strengthen their ties with Kenya. No figures were released for the number of applicants served or attendees at the associated events.
