Travelers are set to experience fresh flight disruptions at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on August 31, 2026.

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) warned passengers that flight delays might affect some departing flights at airports across the country on August 30.

Kenya Airways (KQ) explained that the delays were caused by operational constraints within Air Traffic Control (ATC) Services.

“The ongoing delays into and out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) are due to operational constraints within Air Traffic Control (ATC) Services,” KQ advisory read.

JKIA Flight Disruption

According to flight status information on FlightRadar24, 13 flights operated by Kenya Airways, Gulf Air, and Air Arabia are affected.

Passengers traveling through JKIA on August 31 have been advised to confirm their flight status directly with their respective airlines before going to the airport.

Among the affected services, Kenya Airways has the most flights listed as delayed, canceled, or diverted, including international services to Mumbai, Addis Ababa, Dubai, Juba, Kigali, Kinshasa, Johannesburg, Lusaka, and Lubumbashi.



The status board showed Kenya Airways flight KQ205 to Mumbai canceled at 10:30 a.m., while KQ401 to Addis Ababa was also listed as canceled at 12:40 p.m.

Kenya Airways flights to Dubai, Juba, Kigali, and Kinshasa were listed as delayed during the day.

The airline also had delays on flights to Mombasa, Bujumbura, Johannesburg, and Lusaka.

Meanwhile, KQ584 to Lubumbashi was listed as diverted, adding to the disruption affecting the carrier’s network.

Gulf Air flight GF707 to Bahrain was listed as canceled, while Air Arabia flight G9734 to Sharjah was listed as delayed.

Despite the affected services, numerous other flights remained listed as scheduled throughout the day.

The morning schedule included several domestic services to Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Malindi, Lodwar, Ukunda, and Lamu. At the same time, international flights to destinations including New York, Kilimanjaro, Entebbe, Sharjah, Zanzibar, Doha, and Addis Ababa are also listed as scheduled.
