Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has unveiled a proposed leadership lineup for the Linda Mwananchi Movement Party, naming former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osots among those earmarked for senior positions.
Speaking on Friday, October 30, during the launch of the party's secretariat ahead of the National Delegates Conference (NDC), Sifuna said the proposed structure would comprise a party leader and four deputies.
As part of the new formation, Sifuna named former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and Patrick Makau as deputy party leaders.
Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo was also proposed for a deputy party leader position, with another slot reserved for a representative from the Coast region.
"We will be proposing that we structure the party so that we have a party leader and four deputies. For now, we have resolved that Kawira Mwangaza has decided to be one of the party leaders," Sifuna stated.
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has been tapped as the party chairperson, and he is to be deputised by former Makadara Member of Parliament Reuben Ndolo.
To further strengthen the party's leadership, Sifuna proposed Suba South MP Caroli Omondi for the Secretary General position, with Pauline Njoroge named as his proposed deputy.
Meanwhile, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka was proposed as the party's national treasurer, with Abigael Gikonyo set to deputise him.
Kari Karani was proposed for the position of Organising Secretary, while Francy Kadide was fronted for the Secretary of Legal Affairs position.
As part of the changes, Sifuna proposed Boni Khalwale as Secretary for Political Affairs, who is also expected to vie for the Kakamega Governor seat on the LMM party.
In the proposed women's leadership structure, Caroline Mayuzu was nominated to head the women's league, while Fridah Onduso was proposed to lead the youth league.
The team also proposed Torome Nalengoyo, the immediate former Narok Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairperson, as the party's representative for minority affairs.
For the international and diaspora positions, Sifuna named Eunice Juma, one of the party's founders, as the proposed secretary for diaspora affairs, with Gilbert Shanga as the proposed secretary for international affairs.
Speaking during the event, Sifuna said the proposed names will be presented to the National Delegates Conference for consideration and endorsement as the party moves to establish its leadership structure.
