State House Announces Auction of Vehicles with Reserve Price from Ksh110K

State House has announced a public auction of used Motor Vehicles, Tires, Batteries, lawn mowers, and assorted scrap metal and assets, with vehicles starting at a reserve price of KSh 110k.

In a notice on June 9, the auction is scheduled for June 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the State Department for Roads in Ruiru.

“The Executive Office of the President – State House intends to sell by Public Auction Unserviceable Motor Vehicles, Scrap Metal, Assorted Old Tires, Assorted TVs, Old Motor Vehicles Batteries, Car Wash Machine, Toyota Gear Boxes, Halogen Security Lights and Assorted Broken Furniture among other items. The Auction will take place on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026 starting at 10:00 a.m. at the State Department for Roads, Ruiru,” part of the public notice read.

Auctioning for the State House vehicles and assets will be carried out by the appointed auctioneer, Astorion Auctioneers.

The auctioneers will sell all items based on ‘AS-IS-WHERE-IS’.

State House Directive to Bidders

According to the State House auction notice, prospective bidders are required to pay a refundable deposit of KSh. 50,000.

Payment of the deposit should be made in cash at the cash office of the Executive Office of the President-State House in Nairobi.

However, bidders have been limited to making the payment only during normal working office hours, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Bidders will view their items at the State Department of Roads yard at Ruiru between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on June 14.

In addition, all lots bid for and fully paid for must be collected within thirty days; however, in the event of failure to make full payment, the purchaser shall be liable to pay a storage charge of KSh1,000 per day.

Further, the State House has emphasized that the highest bidder will be expected to pay 25% of the purchase price in cash for the lots bid.

The balance after making the 25% purchase price and the remaining balance should be paid within seven days to avoid forfeiting the initial deposit.

If the highest bidder fails to make the full payment, the items will be offered to the second-highest bidders according to the notice.

“The declared purchaser (highest bidder) MUST pay 25% of the purchase price in cash for the lots bid, and the balance must be paid in cash within seven (7) days from the Auction Day, failure to which the initial deposit will be forfeited and the item offered to the second highest bidder,” State House directed.

In addition, all taxes and other charges incurred during the transfer of ownership will be borne by the purchaser, and bidders purchasing the vehicles will be informed that the duty on the vehicles remains unpaid.
