Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has reflected on the emotional trip to India to repatriate former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s body, revealing that he still keeps the Kenya Airways boarding passes he used during the journey in October 2025.
In a statement shared on X on October 16, 2026, marking one year since Raila’s death, Sifuna recalled travelling to Mumbai on October 15, 2025, and returning to Kenya the following day aboard Kenya Airways flights KQ202 and KQ203.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) patriarch died at the age of 80 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest in Kerala, south-southeast of Mumbai. He was in India for medical treatment and collapsed during a morning walk.

“I couldn’t tell you what the toughest part of the day was, receiving the news in the morning or taking that flight to Mumbai,” Sifuna wrote, reflecting on the difficult circumstances surrounding the mission.
