Gachagua tells UDA leaders to stop trying to lure the Wiper leader into government as Kalonzo insists he will face President William Ruto's administration at the 2027 ballot.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged Kenya Kwanza leaders to stop trying to lure Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka into government, insisting that the former Vice-President remains firmly committed to the Opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Gachagua described Kalonzo as a trustworthy leader who would not betray Kenyans, saying attempts to persuade him to abandon the Opposition were futile.

“I have been with him in the last two years. He is a trustworthy leader and will not betray the people of Kenya,” Gachagua said.

Speaking during a church service at PCEA Kamangu in Kikuyu Constituency, Kiambu County, the Democracy for the Citizens Party leader said Kalonzo had already made up his mind and urged government allies to stop publicly appealing to him to join the administration.

“I want to tell Ruto's allies to stop bothering Kalonzo. Kalonzo is our cousin, and I, Rigathi Gachagua, am the family spokesman. If there is anything you want from Kalonzo, come to me,” he said.

Gachagua went further to invite those seeking Kalonzo's support to visit him at his Wamunyoro home, insisting they had no chance of convincing the Wiper leader to join government.

Kalonzo has also dismissed the possibility of joining President William Ruto's administration, declaring that he would rather face his political opponents in the 2027 General Election than enter into political deals.

“I have seen the headlines that they are courting Kalonzo, that they are looking for him. My answer is no. No, you don’t expect Kalonzo Musyoka to join a government of predators,” he said during a church service at AIC Kyemutheke in Kyumvi, Machakos County.

He questioned why the government would seek to recruit someone it considers its biggest political opponent, maintaining that the Opposition was ready to challenge the administration at the ballot.

“How come your biggest opposition is the one you want to join the government? It can’t be possible. No, thank you very much! Let us meet on the ballot,” he said.

The remarks by the two leaders come amid renewed calls by a section of UDA leaders for Kalonzo to join the government, following his heckling during the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi.

Sections of the crowd interrupted Kalonzo as he addressed the gathering after he questioned the early endorsement of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the Opposition's presidential candidate.

Sifuna intervened and appealed to the crowd to allow Kalonzo to speak. However, the incident later sparked political debate, with several leaders weighing in on the Wiper leader's political standing.
