The committee will be chaired by former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura, with National Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta and Janet Ong’era serving as members.

The Jubilee Party has appointed an inter-party coalition-building committee to spearhead engagement with fellow opposition parties as political formations prepare for the 2027 General Election.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Jubilee said the committee was appointed during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting chaired by party leader and presidential candidate Fred Matiang’i on October 27.

“Recognising Jubilee Party’s membership in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance and the importance of unity among opposition parties ahead of the 2027 General Election, the NEC appointed an Inter-Party Coalition Building Committee to spearhead engagements with other like-minded parties and coalitions,” the statement read.

The committee will be chaired by former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura, with National Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta and Janet Ong’era serving as members.

Its mandate includes reviewing the draft Deed of Agreement for the Ukombozi Alliance (TUA) and proposing amendments where necessary.

The team will also engage like-minded opposition parties to explore avenues for cooperation and coalition-building, as well as develop proposals to strengthen unity among opposition formations ahead of the polls.

Jubilee said the committee would submit its recommendations to the NEC for consideration and further direction.

“The NEC reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to constructive dialogue, cooperation and the pursuit of a common agenda for the transformation of our country,” the statement added.

The move comes as Matiang’i intensifies political engagements with People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua and People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro.

The three leaders have recently held joint political rallies in different parts of the country, including Njoro, Nakuru County, where they called for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

In separate resolutions, the NEC approved the appointment of Lucy Naisiae Kashu as interim chairperson of the party’s Women’s Caucus and Madina Yunis Mahat as interim Deputy National Organising Secretary, both in an acting capacity.

Jubilee also extended its best wishes to learners sitting the 2026 national examinations, wishing them success.

The committee's formation marks a formal step by the party to pursue coalition negotiations and explore partnerships with other opposition formations ahead of the next General Election.
