The party warned that the rising cost of fuel was worsening the economic burden on households and businesses, noting that inflation stood at 6.8 per cent.

The People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) has proposed reducing petrol prices by Sh29 per litre to Sh197.96 and diesel prices to Sh198.77 following the latest pump price increases announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

The party, led by Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro, wants the government to cut importers’ and distributors’ margins by Sh10 per litre, introduce a Sh5.5 billion subsidy for petrol and diesel, and remove the Sh7 fuel levy introduced in 2024.

In a statement on Saturday, October 17, the party criticised the latest increases, saying, “It is insensitive for the government to have announced such hikes in fuel prices”.
