The chaos erupted as the President addressed residents from the top of his vehicle, forcing him to come down as the situation deteriorated. The meeting ended before several leaders could address the gathering.

President William Ruto’s development meeting in Sigor, West Pokot County, was cut short on Friday after groups of attendees disrupted the gathering, hurling stones, soil and water bottles at leaders, forcing people to flee for safety.

Tensions escalated when local leaders were invited to speak, with Governor Simon Kachapin, Senator Julius Murgor, Woman Representative Rael Kasiwai and Sigor MP Peter Lochakapong facing heckling from sections of the crowd.
