    Siblings

Tom has two brothers, both of whom have also played cricket for Wiltshire.

His older brother is Owen J. Alsop, born in September 1992, who came through the Hampshire academy system and represented Wiltshire in minor counties cricket, including the Minor Counties Trophy.

Owen, a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler, shared the family’s early cricket environment in the Wiltshire area, including time with clubs such as Potterne.

Tom’s other brother is Stan Alsop, who likewise played for Wiltshire, featuring in under-17 county matches and miscellaneous games for the county side and clubs such as Potterne.

    Career

Alsop’s professional path began with Wiltshire in 2013, when he appeared in Minor Counties Trophy matches.

He made his List A debut for Hampshire against Gloucestershire in July 2014 and his first-class debut later that season against Kent.

Early opportunities were limited, but he scored heavily for the Hampshire academy and second XI.

In 2016 he established himself with substantial runs in both first-class and List A cricket, earning selection for England Lions tours to Sri Lanka and the UAE.

He remained with Hampshire until 2022, contributing to their 2018 Royal London One-Day Cup success, before joining Sussex initially on loan and then permanently.

At Sussex he produced consistent Championship returns, including seasons with more than 700 first-class runs and multiple centuries.

He has also competed in The Hundred for Trent Rockets and Sunrisers Leeds, the Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat, and the International League T20 for Gulf Giants.

In July 2026 he agreed a three-year move to Gloucestershire beginning at the end of that season.

Across his career he has scored thousands of runs in first-class, List A and T20 cricket, with highest scores of 182 not out (first-class), 189 not out (List A) and 87 not out (T20).

    Accolades

Alsop received his Hampshire county cap in 2021 and his Sussex county cap in 2023.

He played a key role in Hampshire’s 2018 Royal London One-Day Cup victory, scoring 72 in the Lord’s final and becoming the youngest half-centurion in a Lord’s one-day final at the time.

He has been recognised with England Under-19 and England Lions selection, and has produced match-winning performances in franchise cricket, including an unbeaten 85 that earned man-of-the-match honours for Gulf Giants in the ILT20.

Consistent run-scoring seasons at Sussex, multiple first-class and List A centuries, and regular selection in domestic and overseas T20 competitions further mark his standing as a multi-format county professional.
