WhatsApp Status has been getting a slew of features this month and now there’s a new one copied from Instagram stories that’s now available on the messaging app.

WhatsApp now has over 3 billion users worldwide with users sending over 300 billion messages and 8 billion voice messages across the app.

Meta is now porting some features from Instagram Stories to WhatsApp Status.

The first feature is the ability to tag contacts when sharing status updates on the app just as you can on Instagram Stories or Facebook Stories.

It is unclear if other people viewing your Status will see the tagged contacts but tagged contacts will be notified that they’ve mentioned in the status.

WhatsApp Status Tagged Feature

There are a lot of unknowns on this feature including how many people can be tagged and if you’re allowed to tag anyone not in your contacts lists- – for the latter, WhatsApp is already working on usernames which makes it easier to ta people.

Another feature is the new shelf design on WhatsApp status that lets you get a better preview of the content shared there.

WhatsApp Status New Card Style

This feature gives WhatsApp status a new card style instead of the circular display with the Status tab. This feature is already available on some Instagram users.
