Government plans to plant 17 million trees in five days

The government has announced an ambitious tree planting drive, aimed at planting 17 million trees in the next five days as part of weeklong activities leading to Mazingira Day on Saturday. The tree planting drive will take place in 79 identified sites across 31 counties. Among those participating in the drive are communities mobilized through village elders, Kenya Forest Service officers, Training vocational centres, Basic Education and higher learning institutions.
