Government appeals ruling nullifying Safaricom shares sale
Description (show more)
The government has formally filed a Notice of Appeal against a High Court ruling that declared the sale of Safaricom shares null and void. National Treasury CS John Mbadi says the government disagrees with the decision, maintaining that the partial divestiture of the government’s 15 percent stake in Safaricom PLC was above board. Safaricom PLC says the sale of the 15 percent stake to Vodafone Kenya Limited, and effectively Vodacom Group Limited, was completed on June 30, 2026. Seth Olale reports.
