People’s Coalition to table bill seeking to block alteration of constituency

The People’s Coalition on Electoral Reforms will table its Elections Amendment Bill before Parliament next week. The bill, to be tabled by Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, seeks to amend election laws following Tuesday’s High Court ruling in the Okiya Omtatah versus IEBC case. It proposes to clarify the role of the IEBC’s national tallying centre and prevent the alteration, delay or re-verification of results declared at the 290 constituency tallying centres. The coalition also says the bill will address ambiguities in the law that have facilitated the role of the national tallying centre.
