Description (show more)
🎙️ In today’s episode of Tales by Titus 254, we bring you a compelling story from our guest, Lucia Wangui Andenyi, born and raised in Korogocho. Her journey is one marked by deep sorrow, survival, and the unwavering love of a mother. Lucia’s mother battled cancer and endured immense suffering—so much so that one day she lost her memory, unable even to recognize her own children. Just two days after Lucia had given birth, her mother passed away. The grief was overwhelming. Faced with numerous hardships at home and the weight of new responsibilities, Lucia turned to work in nightclubs as an entertainer, trying to make ends meet. Her job involved keeping clients entertained—and sometimes, payment came simply from being touched. The first time she danced on the pole, she received 1000 shillings, a moment that felt like a breakthrough. Her thoughts were consumed by how she could provide food for her children, even as survival remained an ongoing struggle. Some customers offered more money for private engagements, and though it wasn’t easy, Lucia accepted, driven by the urgent need to feed her family. On stage, alongside other women chasing a better life, Lucia embraced what she could to give her children hope. She is a mother with little ones who look up to her. So as we listen, may we suspend judgment—because none of us knows what tomorrow may bring. Welcome to her story.
