Magogoni residents seek alternative settlement land

Thousands of residents from Magogoni area in Lamu are asking the government to provide them with alternative settlement areas. The residents say they have not opposed calls to vacate the land, alleging that a scheme by land grabbers is intended to hoodwink them and the government. The revelations come against the backdrop of a declaration by President William Ruto that the government will not compensate people squatting on public land.
