Her brother worked hard to raise Ksh 20,000 for her bail, and after four months, she was released. She moved in with her brother. Later, her boyfriend was also released, and they began living together as a couple. Ann became pregnant, but the man’s behavior changed—he became violent. Even minor mistakes would provoke him to burn her clothes. Despite the challenges, Ann gave birth and tried to raise her child. When rent was due and he had no money, he would disappear, only to return after Ann had managed to pay the bills. When the child turned two, Ann left the marriage and moved in with a friend. Together, they began engaging in sex work in town. One day, they were arrested by city council officers, but Ann was released shortly after. She continued going to clubs to find clients. One night, after satisfying a customer, he refused to pay her. Later, she met another man who helped her financially and supported her child. He showed her affection, and Ann didn’t suspect he was married. When she became pregnant and informed him, he vanished and blocked her. By then, Ann had stopped going to the streets.
