The Day a Man Took Advantage of Me Until I Delivered a Premature Child
Description (show more)
📍 From Kisumu, Manyatta Flamingo, we bring you a compelling story from our guest, Betty Akinyi—better known as Mama G (Generous). Born in Oyugis and raised in Kisumu, Betty was brought up by her single mother. 👶 At a young age, Betty became pregnant. Her mother disapproved and threw her out of the house. While she was crying on the street, a friend found her, comforted her, and offered to teach her ways to survive. 💔 In 2010, while just two months pregnant, Betty began selling her body. She’s been in this line of work for 15 years. By the time she reached six months, she had mastered how to attract male clients. 👥 Some clients treated her well, but many didn’t. One day, when she was seven months pregnant, she encountered a man who demanded everything from her. He gave her 1000 shillings, but the toll was severe—Betty went into premature labor soon after and was rushed to the hospital. 👩‍🍼 After being discharged, she hustled while raising her child, eventually earning enough to rent a place. She found a woman who could stay with her baby at night while she returned to the club to work. 🎙️ Listen to Betty’s story on Tales by Titus 254 where she opens up about the daily challenges faced by women in the streets—how they sell themselves for small amounts just to feed their families. 🤝 We listen, not to judge. You’re welcome.
