KHRC demands accountability ahead of El Niño rains

The Kenya Human Rights Commision (KHRC) is demanding accountability and protection of human rights in preparations and interventions for the El Niño rains expected between October - December 2026. The civil society group has condemned forced or arbitrary evictions, arrests and inhumane handling of potential flood victims as witnessed in the previous floods, which they say exposed the country’s vulnerabilities in management of disaster.
