"People Treat Me Like God" — Boniface Mwangi on His Wealth, Ruto, Babu Owino & Kenya’s Future

Boniface Mwangi joins us for a wide-ranging and candid conversation about money, politics, leadership and the future of Kenya. In this episode, he explains how he gets his money and responds to questions about political funding, including why he says he cannot accept money from politicians he strongly criticises. He also shares his views on President William Ruto, political accountability and the difficult question of whether public figures should be forgiven for their past actions. The conversation also examines the debate surrounding Babu Owino’s past, why some people believe he deserves forgiveness, and why Boniface Mwangi draws a distinction between different political leaders and their records. He addresses the principles he would follow if elected, his vision for leadership, and how he believes a government should respond to protesters without resorting to killings or excessive force. Why do some Kenyans treat Boniface Mwangi like a political saviour or even “a god”? Is that level of public support justified, or does it create new risks for accountability? Boniface responds to these questions and more in this unfiltered interview.
