Mombasa residents demand urgent action before el nino rains intensify
Description (show more)
Residents living in flood prone areas in Mombasa have faulted the county government of Mombasa over what they describe as inadequate preparedness as the country braces for the anticipated El Nino rains. The residents fear a repeat of the destruction witnessed during the previous El nino seasons, warning that heavy downpour could trigger widespread flooding, displace families, disrupt businesses and damage homes and critical infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Kenya Red Cross has intensified preparedness efforts, including training communities on disaster response ahead of the expected rains.
