UoN students protest lecturers’ strike as police lob tear gas
Description (show more)
Police this morning lobbed tear gas to disperse demonstrations by a section of University of Nairobi students who were demanding that the government engage UASU in talks to end the ongoing lecturers' strike. The students blocked part of Waiyaki Way and burnt tyres, disrupting traffic before police dispersed them. The students say the strike has paralysed learning and delayed planned graduations, affecting their progress. They said they will continue with the demonstrations until the government intervenes to resolve the dispute.
