17 pilgrims killed in Salama road crash

Seventeen pilgrims, most of them women, died in a horrific road accident in Salama while travelling from Mombasa to attend the National Prayer Day at the Subukia Shrine. The accident occurred at a notorious black spot that has continued to claim lives. Residents are now calling for the dangerous section of the road to be re-engineered to prevent further loss of life.
