Controller of budget flags excessive county travel spending

Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o has raised a red flag over excessive travel expenditure by counties, which amounted to more than KSh17 billion in the last financial year. According to the County Governments Budget Implementation Review Report for the financial year 2025/2026, released today, Nyakang’o faulted some of the expenditure as unnecessary and wasteful. The report also showed that the burden of pending bills continues to surge, leaving suppliers and service providers to their own devices.
