In 2008, Nancy’s mother walked out one morning to go to the market—and never returned. Her phone was unreachable, and from that day, she simply vanished from their lives. Not long after, two robbers broke into their home. They didn’t just steal possessions; they shattered Nancy’s world. At only 17 years old, she was raped by both men—an act of violence that left her physically broken and emotionally devastated. For five days, Nancy remained in the house, paralyzed by pain and silence. When she finally managed to crawl outside and ask for help, her battle had only just begun. Later, she discovered the assault had infected her with HIV. Haunted by the trauma and the diagnosis, she tried to end her life three times.
