Mary Stevens was born in Makueni. After completing her primary education up to class eight, she moved to Nairobi to live with her aunt. She eventually returned to Nairobi for work, where she enjoyed a lot of freedom because her employer was rarely at home. Mary met her second boyfriend through a Facebook group; they exchanged phone numbers and began dating. She often visited him on weekends. One day, while cleaning his house, she discovered some medication. Curious, she searched online and learned that they were antiretroviral drugs (ARVs). Shocked, she confronted him, and he admitted that he was HIV positive. Later, Mary met another man and started a relationship with him. They became intimate, and two weeks afterward, she discovered that she was pregnant. She also found out that this man was HIV positive. Fearing that she might have contracted the virus, she went for testing. To her relief, the results showed that she was HIV negative. Mary shares her story about dating men who were HIV positive but never disclosed their status before entering into relationships. Fortunately, despite these experiences, she remained HIV negative.
