Activists give IPOA, DPP seven-day ultimatum over attacks on journalists
Description (show more)
A section of activists has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to take action against police officers accused of undermining media freedom in the country. The lobby group condemned the recent attack on Royal Media Services journalist Francis Odee, saying it adds to a growing list of attacks on journalists in Kenya. The activists say several reported cases remain unresolved despite being brought to the attention of authorities, as attacks on journalists continue to be reported across the country.
