Petition filed to block changes to live-streaming of election results
Description (show more)
A petition has been filed at the Milimani High Court seeking to stop Parliament from forwarding the Elections (Amendment) Bill of 2024 to President William Ruto for assent if it contains provisions that would remove the requirement for the live-streaming of election results announced at polling stations by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The petition comes as a section of opposition leaders claims the proposed amendments are part of a government plan to rig next year’s general election.
