Description (show more)
Major construction works at the Vindo Stadium in Voi are expected to be completed by December 2026, President William Ruto has announced. President Ruto, who is on a tour of Taita Taveta County, inspected the ongoing construction works at the stadium, among other development projects. The 10,000-seater facility is being developed to host football, rugby and athletics, with the government saying it will provide a platform for nurturing sporting talent in the region. The project, whose groundbreaking was conducted in March after stalling for nine years, is currently about 50 percent complete and has a budget of 950 million shillings. Once completed, the Vindo Stadium will provide an alternative sporting venue to the nearby Danson Mwanyumba Stadium. The government says the facility is part of efforts to improve sports infrastructure and support emerging talent in Taita Taveta County.
