Ruth Chelimo was born in Mount Elgon. She is here to share her story of how she began gambling. Her journey started when she saw one of her friends win 100,000 shillings from just 50 shillings. Inspired by that, she began gambling in 2023. While in college, Ruth gambled away her school fees, and when all the money was lost, she dropped out of school. Afraid of facing her parents, she ran away from home. Later, she confessed to her mother, who was heartbroken by the news. Her gambling habit became so consuming that she would even set alarms at night to wake up and play. Ruth had saved money with the hope of traveling abroad for work, but before she could leave, she gambled away her entire salary on the Aviator game. At one point, she was entrusted with money in an envelope meant for her friend’s dowry. Ruth gambled all of it and fled to Uganda. She explains that she has tried to stop playing Aviator, but all her efforts have been in vain.
