M-Pesa Users Can Now Buy NSE Shares — Ziidi Trader Sparks Record Retail Trades
Description (show more)
Safaricom has launched Ziidi Trader, a new feature that allows M-Pesa users to buy and sell shares listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) directly within the mobile money app. The service integrates equity trading into the M-Pesa Financial Services menu, removing the need for separate broker accounts, paperwork, or additional identity verification beyond existing M-Pesa credentials. The market response was immediate. On Friday, the NSE recorded its highest number of retail trades on record, with approximately 7,500 of the 14,000 trades executed through Ziidi Trader, just a day after the pilot began. The early surge signals how embedding stock trading into M-Pesa could significantly reshape retail participation in Kenya’s capital markets. #KenyanWallStreet #NSE #Safaricom #MPesa #ZiidiTrader
